The School Canteen

At Blackwood Comprehensive School we offer an excellent service in our canteen.  We have a cashless system where your child accesses food via their biometric thumb/fingerprint which will be set up during changeover day in year 6.

Break is 10.55am-11.15pm and lunch is 1.15-1.50pm.

There is a variety of food served in the canteen including; a meal of the day, pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, baguettes, fruit pots, and desserts, as well as mouth-watering muesli bars, muffins, and cakes.

All our food is prepared in an environment where nuts and other food allergens are present, so if you have special dietary requirements on a daily basis, please speak to our Chef who will be happy to let you know what you are able to eat and if nothing on the menu is suitable, he will find you an alternative!

How can we or my child put money onto their account?

As a parent/guardian, you are able to place money on their account via www.upay.co.uk using the information on the food payment card, or alternatively, your child can place money onto the account using a machine that is based in the canteen.

My child is entitled to Free School Meals – how does that work and what is he entitled to receive?

If your child receives Free School Meals, they can choose any food items up to the value of ……. from the extensive daily menu.  To pay for the meal, we will effectively credit your child’s account on a daily basis and this will be available for lunchtime.  They can then access the funds via our Biometric thumb/finger Recognition, the same as the other students.
