Pupils entering the school at the start of year 7 will be carefully placed in mixed ability tutor groups for registration so that there is a balance of boys and girls within these groups.  They will also be placed wherever possible with friendship groups, as groups are created after a lengthy period of consultation with the primary schools to ensure that pupils will find familiar faces in their new form.  Each tutor group will have a form tutor who will be there to guide and support pupils for the first twenty five minutes of each day.  The overall guidance is the responsibility of the appropriate progress manager who monitors and coordinates the academic and social progress of pupils in his or her charge.
